How to Organise Food and Drinks for CrazySail

fruits-61896_1920
The organised ones amongst you have probably already started thinking about how to organise food and drinks for the week.  Here is a guide on how to buy and pack food for your crew during the week.

Where to buy

Some of the crews are bringing their own food and drinks from Italy as they will be driving to Croatia (and you know those Italians are very fussy about their food!). If you aren’t transporting food to Croatia with you, then we recommend buying food and drink at the supermarket near the marina on the Saturday when we arrive. Then everyone can load up their boats at the same time.
Every second day we will moor at a location where you can buy more fresh groceries and ice. But these grocery stores will smaller and more expensive than the original marina so make sure you are organised from the start.

Food

It is up to your crew to decide what meals you will be preparing each day. We are sailing to some amazing remote locations so just be aware there won’t be many opportunities to go to restaurants and dine out. Here are a few points on things to remember with food:
  • easy meals to cook on a boat are recipes with pasta, cold rice, eggs etc.
  • bring lots of snacks
  • bring salt, pepper, sugar and condiments
  • don’t buy too many cold things like milk and meats because they won’t last very long in the boat fridge
  • don’t buy bananas because the weather is hot and they will stink up the boat

Drinks

You know what and how much your crew wants to drink during the week so you should buy your drinks accordingly. But importantly, don’t skimp on bringing water.
  • drinking water (2L per person per day)
  • spirits
  • mixers
  • cocktail ingredients
  • beer
  • cider
  • prosecco
  • coffee (there is no coffee in Croatia!)

Other important things to buy

  • anti-seasickness medication (like ear patches called transcop). Even if you don’t think you will get seasick, you should have this on the boat just in case because seasickness is like a hangover from hell that never goes away!
  • ice to keep drinks and food cold
  • rubbish and plastic bags
  • sponges and cleaning products
  • toilet paper
  • paper towels
  • plastic plates, cups and cutlery (unless you like washing dishes and using up all of your water supply each day)
  • sunscreen (being red and peeling from sunburn is not sexy)

The Party Guide for CrazySail 2013

Thanks for following and adding to the Spotify playlist CrazySailors!

Now that we have the music sorted for the parties, you probably want to know a bit more about the amazing parties that we are organising, right?  Here is a little sneak preview.

The Welcome Party

The first day is going to take some time getting organised with food, checking in and loading the boats.  Please be patient and help everyone to get ready.  The sooner we organise ourselves, the sooner we can start the festivities for the week!  Once we are all ready, we will sail to the bay just opposite Marina Dalmacija and have our first raft party.  A raft is a group of boats tied up next to each other – it will look something kind of like this which will let us party next to each other and move from one boat to the next.

Roast Lamb Party

On the second night, we will be on the southern part of an island called Dugi Otok (sounds exotic, right?).  There is a wonderful walk that goes around a salt lake and climbs over 20 metre high cliffs.  It is a magical experience to walk there with the smashing waves against the cliffs just as the sun sets.  At dusk, we will order an entire roast lamb to feast on at the bay from a local Croatian family.  You may have been excited about La Porchetta, but nothing is going to compare to Agnello Arrosto!

Forbidden Lake Raft Party

On the fourth evening, we will be in Prokljan Lake after sailing ten miles through a beautiful fjord to reach the point where the freshwater meets the saltwater of the sea.

In the mystery of this salt lake, we will find a spot to raft up and have the Forbidden Lake Raft Party.  Things are always more fun, when they are forbidden after all!

CrazySail 2013 REGATTA

On the second last day, we will have the inaugural CrazySail Regatta!  Don’t expect the skipper to do all the hard work – this will involve teamwork from the entire crew if you want to win the regatta.  The race is one thing, but equally as important is the team spirit, crazy stunts and costumes that is also going to happen during the regatta.  We want to see you impress the other crews in the most creative ways possible.

Not to brag, but it’s probably gonna be my crew at the front there. Image Credit: chris.diewald on Flickr

Summit Raft Party

On the last evening the music will come from above! On the top of a hill in the middle of the islands, we will have some drinks and some music watching the beautiful sunset over the Kornati Islands, and why not, some CrazyDance moves!

North Hole/Cape Porn Raft Party

Something REALLY Crazy for the last midday cocktail party could have not been denied! When the phrase “hot for the yacht” gets taken too seriously that’s what happens ;)…People get creative and be fun for the last party of this amazing week!!!!

For the full schedule of where we are going during the week, check out the http://crazysail.org/where/ page on our website.

Next week, we will post about how you can organise food and drinks for your crew.  In the meantime, you can brush up on your cocktail making skills to get ready for the upcoming parties!

Tune into the CrazySail Radio

radio

There are less than five weeks to go until we are sailing under the Croatian sun and partying under the stars.  But wait, there is one final ingredient missing for us to have an amazing week … the music!!!

We are organising a CrazySail Radio station for every boat to tune into during the week so that we can all party together with the same music blasting from our fleet of yachts.  The radio station will also be used to tell everyone what the party plans are for each evening, so it’s important that every boat tunes in.

In preparation for CrazySail Radio, we have started a playlist on Spotify with all of our favourite party tunes.  The playlist is a little teaser to get you excited about the fun we’re gonna have during this week.  Here is the link to the CrazySail playlist:

Open in Spotify

We have made it a collaborative playlist so that you can add songs you like to the playlist on Spotify.  This way, we can make sure that all of your song requests will be played at the CrazySail parties too.

Don’t forget to bring along your iPods, mp3 players and CDs to play music on your own yacht during the days.  Of course there will be plenty of dance, electro and dub step tunes playing all night, but it is also nice to have some chill-out music during the days.  Just think of Jack Johnson’s sweet acoustics playing in the background while you’re lying in a hammock on the front deck of the yacht.  Ohhh yeahhh …

How to look HOT for the YACHT

Last week, we blogged about our bright and sexy new polo shirts for this year’s CrazySail crew.  The order has been placed and we confirm the price is 16 Euro per person.  Each skipper will be collecting payment from everyone in their crew soon.

This week, we are continuing our excitement about what to wear on the yacht this summer.  Check out our cheeky new Pinterest board ‘Hot for the Yacht’ which will give you some fashion inspiration of what to pack for your CrazySail wardrobe.  Just click on any of the images below to see the full board of images.  We love the classic nautical blues and whites but we also look forward to seeing everyone in fun bright colours.  You know, to match our fun bright CrazySail shirt.

Fall crazy in love with our new CrazySail shirts

We have just finished designing the official CrazySail shirt for 2013!

Check out the design below.  So kids, what do you think?  We reckon that everybody who passes our fleet of yachts in the Adriatic sea will be green with envy about our sexy new shirts.

CrazySail, shirts, boys

CrazySail, shirts, girls

It is really important for everyone to get into the fun and spirit of the week, so we will be ordering shirts for every person coming to CrazySail.  We will contact each of the skippers to get an idea of your shirt sizes.  If you want to let your skipper know your specific shirt size, then you can have a look at the shirt size measurements in the links below:

Boys – shirt measurement sizes

Girls – shirt measurement sizes

We will be placing orders for the shirts on Friday 21 June (that’s this Friday!) so please sort out any shirt size requests before then.  Once we have confirmed the numbers of shirts, we will confirm the price of the shirt per person.  At this stage, we estimate that the shirts will be 15 Euros per person.

Finally, there are only seven more weeks to go.  Get excited.  See you soon, green machines!

The CrazySail countdown begins!

The countdown to CrazySail is on – only 8 more weeks to go!We are getting super excited for this crazy week coming up soon, so we have started a blog to share our excitement!  Every week we will be publishing new posts to share information and help you get ready for CrazySail. There are five important things that you really need to organise now:

1. Pay and confirm your place for CrazySail.

If you are not sure how to arrange for payment, contact your skipper.

2. Make sure you have a passport that is valid and not expired.

For anyone who is not from the European Union, this is a no-brainer for you – bring your passport (duh!).  For EU citizens, Croatia is not part of the EU… yet.  It is expected to become part of the EU as of 1 July 2013.  In any case, you should be able to just bring your EU Identity Card.

3. Get travel/health insurance

Don’t even bother coming without sorting out your travel/health insurance policy.  Without this, you may be refused first aid in the event of an emergency in Croatia.  For EU citizens, you should be able to register for health insurance cover in Croatia (free of charge!) by contacting your health insurance provider.

4. Apply for leave from work.

Does your boss know that you are going away on holidays from 10-17 August?  If not, you better apply for your leave as soon as possible.  It’s the time of the year that everyone wants to go on holidays, so you better ask before your colleagues do.

5. Book your flights/work out how you’re going to get to Marina Dalmacja for the 10th of August.

Check out When&Where for full details about how to get there.  CrazySail officially begins at 14:00 on the 10th of August, so don’t be late for the party!

We know that you are very busy and important, but make sure you plan ahead so that you don’t miss out on CrazySail this year.  If you can no longer come to the CrazySail, then please let us know as soon as possible because there is a waiting list of friends who want to jump on a boat with us too.

Ahoy there sailor!
